Impostor word lists by category
Pick a category for your next paper round. Each printable list has 40 real prompts from Farsa cards, ready to select, copy or print.
Choose your list
- Food and snacks: dishes, ingredients and snacks for an opening round.
- Thanksgiving: prompts for dinner and the time spent talking around the table.
- Christmas and Posadas: food, presents and decorations for December gatherings.
- Spanglish: everyday expressions for a group that switches languages.
- Family: relatives and kinship terms to describe through clues.
Prepare one secret word per round
Check the category together and remove unfamiliar terms. Someone sitting out the round chooses one prompt and writes it on all but one paper slip. The remaining slip says “Impostor.” Fold, shuffle and deal. Give one clue each, vote and let a caught impostor make one final guess.
The step-by-step impostor rules explain ties and variations. A printed category is a word bank: use the same secret prompt on the player cards for each round.
Spanish prompts and supplied English glosses
The lists preserve the cards' original Spanish prompts. Where a card supplies an English gloss, the English page uses that wording. Some glosses are definitions rather than single words. Pick wording everyone understands and put that exact wording on each secret-word slip.
Copy, print and plan the gathering
Select the list text to copy it, or use your browser's print option. For more ways to play around the table, see Thanksgiving games for Latino families and Christmas and Posadas games.
